Adult Programs

Client Profile / Admissions Criteria
  • Men’s residential has a bed capacity for 39 adult male clients with substance abuse and treatment needs.
  • Adolescent residential has a bed capacity for 38 adolescent male clients with substance abuse and treatment needs.
  • Recovery Home has a bed capacity for 12 young adult male clients with substance abuse and treatment needs.
  • Outpatient substance abuse services for males and females, adult and adolescent are available, 70-75 clients.

Mentally Ill Substance Abusers Program (MISA)

The specialized program meets the needs of male substance abusers with a psychiatric disorder.

Adolescent Programs

Client and Treatment Facts

  • Woodridge Interventions specializes in substance abuse treatment for adolescent males 13 to 18 years of age who need inpatient and outpatient care.  This includes outpatient services for males and females.
  • The programs are highly structured and use cognitive-behavioral treatment and 12-Step approaches to care.
  • The programs offer a safe environment in which clients learn and practice sober living skills while examining their issues and barriers that brought them to treatment.
  • Emphasis is placed on developing a strong aftercare plan that includes relapse prevention strategies and follow-up care.
  • Services are provided by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of certified addiction counselors, recreation therapist and nurses.

An alternative education curriculum is an integral part of the adolescent program.  Clients attend classes throughout the day, and participate in their treatment programming in the evening.  Clients may earn their high school diploma or prepare for GED testing.

Mentally Ill Substance Abusers Program (MISA)

This program serves male primary substance abusers 13 to 18 years of age with a secondary psychiatric disorder diagnosis.  We do accept adolescent males with psychiatric disorders who are psychiatrically stable, have an off-site psychiatrist and whose parent/guaridan has the means of securing their son's monthly medications.  We incorporate their dual-diagnosis issues in their treatment planning and monitor the clients for medication compliance. 

  • Services include case management, life skills training, medication management, psychiatric assessment and on-going psychiatric monitoring.

Recovery Home Unit

This is a step-down program for males 16 to 19 years of age who have completed a residential treatment program.  They have access to on-going outpatient treatment while working or attending school.

Accreditation and Licensure

  • The facility earned and has maintained accreditation through the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) since 1998.
  • The program is licensed by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA).

Frequently Asked Questions

What personal items am I permitted to bring?
     Adolescent Unit - Clients may bring appropriate clothing in accordance with program dress code.  
     Laundry equipment is available for clients to use on the unit.  Personal pictures of family and 
     friends, prescribed medications, and appropriate reading and journaling materials are permitted.

     Men's Unit - Clients may bring appropriate clothing, with laundry equipment available on the 
     unit.  Personal pictures of family and friends, prescribed medications, and appropriate reading 
     and journaling materials are permitted.

How long is the program?
     Adolescent Unit - The average length of stay is 6-9 months.  This is based on the client's 
     progress and needs.  
     
     Men's Unit - The average length of stay is 90 days.  Aftercare needs and living arrangements 
     may result in a longer length of stay.

Who can visit me and when?
     Adolescent Unit - Visitation is limited to immediate family members on the visitation list.  These 
     visits may take place two nights a week (Tuesdays and Sundays).  Family members must attend 
     the family education program in order to visit on Tuesdays. 
     
     Men's Unit - Four adults may visit upon consent of the client.  A family program is available 
     two times per week, with one being scheduled on the weekend.

Can I earn home passes?
     Adolescent Unit - Clients may earn home passes after they are in the program for 4 weeks.  
     Passes start at 4 hours, then 8 hours, then 12 hours and graduate to 24 hours.  All pass requests 
     must be earned and approved by staff.  

     Men's Unit - Clients are eligible after 35 days in the program.  Clients are eligible for 2 passes 
     during their treatment stay, with staff approval and passes are not to exceed 12 hours.

Can I make phone calls and whom can I call?
     Adolescent Unit - Yes, 3 phone calls per week to family, not to exceed 10 minutes.
     
     Men's Unit - Clients are permitted one call during their first week in the program.  After 7 days, 
     clients may have up to 3 calls weekly, not to exceed 15 minutes per call.

Can I send and receive mail?
     Adolescent Unit - Yes, you can send and receive mail.  You will be required to open incoming 
     mail in front of a staff member for security purposes.  
     
     Men's Unit - Yes, you can send and receive mail.  You will be required to open incoming mail 
     in front of a staff member for security purposes.

Can I earn my high school diploma or GED?
     Adolescent Unit - Yes, we provide educational services on-site, year round.  We offer credits 
     that are transferable to your home school, Special Education classes and GED preparation 
     exams.
     
     Men's Unit - No, if the client is interested, his assigned counselor will assist in GED 
     preparation.

Will I have the opportunity to do community service?
     Adolescent Unit - Yes, if approved by the treatment staff and the client's probation officer.
      
     Men's Unit - Community service opportunities are limited to assignment to the kitchen work crew.

Can I get a job on or off program grounds?
     Adolescent Unit - No, only clients that are assigned to our Recovery Home are permitted to 
     work off grounds.
     
     Men's Unit - No, clients are not permitted to be employed on or off grounds during their 
     treatment time in the program.

Will my family be involved in my treatment? 
     Adolescent Unit - Yes, it is the expectation that clients' families participate in the program.
     
     Men's Unit - Yes, family involvement is strongly encouraged and is an integral part of 
     treatment and reintegration.
