Medically Monitored Detoxification Program
The 24-bed residential unit is one of only two in Chicago that operates outside a hospital.
- Patients are monitored 24 hours a day by a physician and team of nurses.
- Counseling, education, relapse and aftercare groups are provided and the emphasis is on linking clients to the next level of care.
Residential Programs
Separate residential programs are offered to the following populations:
- Adult men who are court-mandated to receive treatment as an alternative to incarceration;
- Dually diagnosed clients in need of MISA services;
- Adult women who are residents of the city of Chicago;
- Adult women referred by the Department of Corrections;
- Men and women involved with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS)
Outpatient Programs
- Level I (Outpatient) and Level II (Intensive Outpatient) Substance abuse treatment services are offered for adults and adolescents.
- DUI education and treatment services.
Southwood Interventions is licensed and partially funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
Frequently Asked Questions
What personal items am I permitted to bring? You are permitted to bring appropriate personal pictures, seven days worth of clothing and treatment-related books.
Who can visit me and when? Visitation hours are one day per week and vary by program. Visits must be scheduled by the program. Three adults are two children are permitted to visit at one time.
Can I make phone calls and whom can I call? Yes, a pay phone is available for calls to anyone. The phone is only accessible certain hours each day and you must provide the money to make the call. Can I have my cell phone with me while in treatment? No. Someone can pick up your cell phone for you or we can hold it, but you are not permitted to use it at the program.
How much money are you allowed to have on you at one time? Depending on which program you are at, the amount varies from $5 to $10.
Do you assist in getting clothes and toiletry items for those in need? Yes, we do assist those in need by providing items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, clothing items and shoes. We will also purchase undergarments if necessary.
Can I bring my young children in treatment with me? No. Southwood Interventions is an adult residential program only.
Will I be able to notify my parole or probation officer that I am in treatment? Yes. You can call your parole or probation officer upon admission.
Will I be able to attend court dates while in treatment? Yes. We have drivers that can transport you to and from court, if necessary.
Can my DCFS worker bring my children by for my scheduled visits? Yes. We set aside a room for patients and children to visit together.
Do you provide transportation to outside appointments? Yes. We provide transportation to appointments in the Chicago area.
