Client Profile / Admissions Criteria

  • Delinquent and dependent males and females, between the ages of 13-18, with behavioral disorders.
  • Primarily first and second time offenders.
  • IQ of 70 or above (will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).

Located on the secluded grounds of the South Mountain Restoration Center in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, the Abraxas Leadership Development Program (LDP) provides short term, residential treatment for adjudicated youth.  LDP is a strength-based, cognitive behavioral program that provides counseling and education services, as well as leadership training, adventure-based programming, and opportunities for community service and restitution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What personal items am I permitted to bring?
     Religious materials.  All clothing and hygiene products are provided.

Who can visit me and when?
     Immediate family members.  Visits are once every two weeks, and all visits must be pre-
     arranged.

Can I earn home passes? 
     No.

Can I make phone calls and whom can I call?
     Yes, one 5 minute call per week to parent/legal guardian.  Staff members administer the phone 
     calls.

Can I send and receive mail?
     Yes, you can send and receive mail.  You will be required to open incoming mail in front of a 
     staff member for security purposes.

Can I earn my high school diploma or GED?
     Yes, we provide educational services on-site, year round.  Clients can earn a high school 
     diploma or GED.

Will I have the opportunity to do community service?
     Yes, community service hours can be earned during your stay.

Will I have the opportunity to earn money toward my restitution?
     Yes, all clients have the opportunity to be selected for the Restitution Program.  Clients who 
     participate in the program can earn up to a $200 stipend, which will be applied directly to 
     his/her fines.

Will my family be involved in my treatment?
     Yes, family involvement is encouraged and is an integral part of treatment and reintegration.  All 
     Individual Service Plans and updates will be sent directly to the parent/guardian.

Will you provide transportation to the program once I am committed?
     Yes, we provide transportation.
