Program Highlights
- Serves youth from both Dauphin and Cumberland Counties.
- The program operates year round from 8:30 AM to 3:20 PM and is closed only on the seven major holidays.
- Students are provided individualized education and clinical service planning.

Abraxas provides alternative education, counseling and social services to students in grades 6 through 12. The program is intended to significantly improve academic performance, attendance and civic responsibility for the students who attend. These objectives are accomplished through implementation of emotional and social support within a safe, nurturing and supportive academic environment.

How are students referred to this program? All students are referred from their home school or juvenile probation to the Director of Education.
How long is a student required to participate in the program? Students are required to participate in the program for a minimum of 9 weeks or one full marking period.
Can parents remove their child from the program at any time? No. Once ordered to the program, students must remain for a minimum of 9 weeks and successfully complete the program.
How will parents be involved in their child's education while in the program? Parents are included in the development and updating of the written plan, which outlines the goals that each student must accomplish before returning to their home school.
Will students receive individualized support? Yes. This includes, but is not limited to, a complete orientation and interaction with an intervention specialist to enhance students' success.
Do you collaborate with outside agencies? Yes, as necessary, special needs such as behavioral health support and family/parenting services are considered for outside referral. Also, the program staff works closely with other agencies with which the student and/or family are involved.
Who do parents contact with questions? Every student is assigned an intervention specialist who will be in contact with their parents prior to, or immediately following admission. Intervention specialists, teachers and the Director of Education can be contacted at the number listed above.
Do the credits students earn transfer to their home school? Yes.
